Within the 17th-century Carmelite convent that anchors Jules César to the fabric of Arles, the Junior Suite occupies 27 square metres with the considered economy of a cell transformed. The geometry here is inherited — stone walls carrying centuries of silence, vaulted logic pressing down and inward — and Christian Lacroix has worked against that gravity with characteristic precision. Color functions as architecture: saturated Provençal tones interrupt the monastic envelope without dissolving it, each hue applied with the discipline of someone who understands that excess and restraint are not opposites but collaborators. Material World The suite rewards close reading. Lacroix's intervention operates at the level of textile and surface — printed fabrics referencing the Camargue's visual vernacular, the kind of ornamental confidence that belongs to haute couture translated into upholstery and wallcovering.
